Swami Vivekananda in Central Provinces:
Sometime in later part of June of 1892 Swami Vivekananda as a Mendicant Monk visited Madhya Pradesh (then Central Province) from Poona.
It was in Khandwa, that he gave the first hints of his willingness to attend Parliament of Religion at Chicago. Swamiji stayed at house of Sri Haridas Chatterjee for 3 weeks. During this time he also came for a brief visit at Indore, (about which he mentions in his letters). He mentions of seeing celebrated Chattari’s & about the great queen of Indore Ahalyabai Holkar.
We find it relevant to mention that Sri Vishwanath Dutta, father of Swami Vivekananda who was an Attorney had spent few months in city, for some professional commitments.
Direct Disciples of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa Swami Brahmananda, Swami Shivananda & Swami Trigunatitananda have graced the cultural & spiritual city of Indore, which happens to be situated in between two jotirlingas of Ujjain & Omkareshwar.
